Q: Patio tiles are 12 inches by 18 inches. What is the smallest number of tiles that are needed to tile a patio that has an area of 10 feet by 12 feet?
A: 80 tiles
10 feet by 12 feet is 10(12) inches by 12(12) inches, which is 120 inches by 144 inches. 120/12 = 10 by 144/18 = 8. 8 * 10 = 80 tiles.
